FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

NRR stands for Noise Reduction Rating, a US government standard (ANSI S3.19) that measures how much sound an earplug blocks. NRR 19dB means these earplugs reduce sound exposure by approximately 9-10dB in real-world use (the EPA requires dividing the rating by half as a conservative estimate). At a festival hitting 110dB, that brings your exposure down to a safe range for extended listening.

Yes, that’s the whole point. Rail Riderz™ use a high-fidelity acoustic filter (not foam) that reduces volume uniformly across the frequency spectrum. Bass still hits. Highs are still crisp. The mix sounds like the mix, just at a safer volume. Foam plugs block high frequencies and make music sound muffled. Hi-fi earplugs don’t.

Gently pull the top of your ear up and back to open the ear canal, then insert the earplug with a slight twisting motion until the flanges are seated. You should feel a slight seal, not painful, just snug. If you’re hearing sound leakage, try the next size up. Each kit includes Small, Medium, and Large ear tips.

Rinse the silicone ear tips with warm water and mild soap after use. Pat dry, do not use heat. Store in the aluminum case to protect them from dust and damage. Do not use alcohol or solvents on the silicone. The aluminum case can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.

The silicone earplugs are designed for up to 2 years of regular use with proper care. The aluminum case is essentially lifetime, anodized aluminum is extremely durable. When the silicone tips show signs of degradation (tackiness, tearing, or reduced seal), replacement tips are available.
